Q. 上と下の鍵盤、一緒に動いてるみたいに見えますが...

アンケートや頂いたメールで多い、疑問みたいです。

チェンバロの鍵盤は、上鍵盤と下鍵盤、一緒に動くように見えるんじゃなくて、一緒にも動きます (笑)

チェンバロのしくみは、私がお答えするよりも、チェンバロ製作家さんのサイトを御覧になられた方が、分かりやすいと思うので、詳説は割愛致しますが、
ヒストリカル・チェンバロの二段鍵盤式の楽器には、
通常、上鍵盤と下鍵盤に、同じ高さの音がする弦 (8'弦と呼ぶ)がそれぞれ張られています。

... 又、たいていの二段鍵盤チェンバロの下鍵盤には、
　　　オクターブ高い音の弦(4'弦と呼ぶ)も張られているのですが、この話は、今回は蛇足なり。

下鍵盤と上鍵盤、同じ高さの音が出るのですが、
　　　　(☆ 二段も鍵盤があって、音域が広いんですねーと言われますが、
　　　　　エレクトーンのような仕組みではないことも、蛇に足を生やしておこう(笑) )
それぞれ微妙に音色が違うように、調整されています (通常は。)

8'弦1本でも、演奏しますが、より分厚い音で演奏したい時に、
上鍵盤&下鍵盤を一緒に動かすレジスターを用い、8'弦2本を鳴らして演奏します。
これが「上鍵盤と下鍵盤が一緒に動いている」状態での演奏です。

ちなみに、下鍵盤をぐっと押し込むことで、上下連動させる仕組みになっています。

プレイヤーの近くの席に座られた方は、そんなところも、演奏会で見てみてください(^^)

またまた蛇足ながら、4'弦を加えた音色で演奏することもあります。

通常

　・下鍵盤の8'弦＋4'弦
　・上下鍵盤の8'弦2本＋4'弦

という音色の使い分けがあります。

これに加えて、チェンバロには、

　・上鍵盤の8'弦1本
　・下鍵盤の　〃
　・　上下鍵盤の8'弦2本
・バフストップ(ミュートをかけたような音がする)を用いた8'弦
　　　　 (☆楽器によってバフがかかるのは上だったり、下だったり。
　　　　　　　　　　最近、両方にかかる楽器も弾きました♪ )

めったに使わないが、
　・ 4'弦1本。

以上、7種類の音色を使い分けることが出来ます。

これに、奏者の指先で弾き分ける音色が、各々に、無限に加わります(^^)
